Skinwave Treatment Steps
There are 5 steps a Skinwave treatment. After your Skin Care Specialist preps your skin with a double cleanse, settings are prepared to best address your specific skin needs and goals. Steps 1-3 all use the aqua delivery handpiece to extract impurities while simultaneously delivering nourishing ingredients into the skin. Steps 4 and 5 use two additional hand pieces that are unique to Skinwave, something its competitor, Hydrafacial, does not include.
Awaken | Cleanse and Exfoliate
An AHA serum (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) that combines glycolic acid, lactic acid, and licorice root extract is first used to wake up your skin by providing gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells to improve texture and brighten the skin.
Clarify | Extract & Decongest
A BHA serum (Beta Hydroxy Acid) is used next to decongest and extract pores as well as manage oily skin. Salicylic acid, willow bark extract, and natural plant-derived enzymes work in harmony to reduce oil and decongest clogged pores, allowing for enhanced absorption of nutrients.
Quench | Hydrate, Replenish & Repair
An extremely hydrating hyaluronic acid serum is used next to reduce inflammation while hydrating, moisturizing, and soothing the skin. Humectants, natural moisturizing factors, and beta glucan restore the skin barrier and increase hydration in the skin several layers deep.
Electroporation | Increase Absorption
This next handpiece uses electroporation, which is technology that allows for better absorption of the serums used in steps 1-3. This is combined with blue and red LED therapy to improve skin tone and texture by stimulating collagen and elastin production.
Microcurrent | Contour
The second handpiece uses microcurrent to not only provide an instant contour and lift, but to also enhance skin elasticity, massage and relaxes muscles, and assist in lymphatic and blood circulation.
What is the difference between Skinwave and Hydrafacial?
Skinwave and Hydrafacial are two distinct treatments that employ different techniques to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin. While both use a customizable multi-step process to cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate and nourish the skin, Hydrafacial does not include the use of additional handpieces. This makes Hydrafacial only a 3 step process as opposed to 5 steps Skinwave offers. The inclusion of electroporation, LED therapy, and microcurrent in Skinwave provides enhanced benefits of skin elasticity and texture over Hydrafacial, and at a much more affordable price.
