SkinBetter Alto vs Alto Advanced
What is the difference between our two Vitamin C serums from Skinbetter Science ~ Alto Defense and Alto Advanced Defense & Repair? This is one of the most common skincare product questions we are asked, so let’s chat about them!
Alto and Alto Advanced both have the same goal: provide daily antioxidant protection against free radicals, UV damage, and environmental stressors to brighten the skin and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, dullness, and redness. These skin concerns are targeted by a number of powerhouse ingredients in these formulas, including Vitamins C and E, as well as 17 additional antioxidants. Skin firmness and resiliency are also improved thanks to the inclusion of Trifluoroacetyl Tripeptide-2 in both formulas, as this peptide increases elasticity of the skin to provide a more youthful appearance in the skin.
Vitamin C
Once you have the most important basics set in your skincare routine {cleanser, moisturizer, SPF}, including Vitamin C is a great next step to take for your skin.
Vitamin C is a powerful ingredient proven to provide:
Antioxidant protection from UVB & UVA
*This is why we should use Vitamin C in our AM routines!
Increased collagen synthesis
Skin brightening benefits
Both serums use the vitamin C derivative Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate. The oil-soluble property of this derivative allows for increased penetration into the deeper layers of the skin as compared to pure Vitamin C forms (ex. ascorbic acid). The deeper ingredients go, the more likely they are to stay put to do their work (rather than just evaporating off of the top layer of our skin).
Alto Advanced Additional Benefits
Alto Advanced includes an additional, patented antioxidant that specifically provides increased intrinsic protection. This means that there are some added defense mechanisms at play working to fight free radical damage coming from within our bodies, in addition to protecting us from environmental stressors outside of our bodies. Free radical damage in the skin presents itself as signs associated with aging skin: uneven/dull skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and sagging skin. Paired with the visible benefits Alto Advanced provides, these intrinsic benefits will absolutely pay off overtime with consistent use.
Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Allyl Ester (Allyl PQQ): Patented, super-potent antioxidant technology that effectively neutralizes free radicals produced by the body’s natural, intrinsic processes, and supports more efficient energy creation, critical to the skin’s renewal and repair process.
Another ingredient included only in Alto Advanced is Niacinamide, a form of the Vitamin B3. This skin-resorting addition also fights and repairs environmental and UV damage in the skin, just like antioxidants. Visible results include reduction in the appearance of pores, evening of skin tone, and it overall gives the look of a healthy, hydrated skin barrier.
Which one is right for your skin?
The additional antioxidant protection Alto Advanced provides makes it the superior choice when comparing ingredient lists, but there are a few other factors at play to help your decision.
Choose Alto if you:
Are new to having a consistent skin care routine
Have a sensitivity to niacinamide (only Alto Advanced contains this)
Want to start with a less expensive option
Choose Alto Advanced if you:
Want to do as much as you can to prevent the signs of aging
Have current damage you would like to repair
Brighter, healthier, and even-looking skin will be your reward with consistent use of either Alto or Alto Advanced. You cannot make a wrong decision between these two powerful serums by Skinbetter!
